Apple Watch SE 3 or Series 12? A 5,400-baht difference — what else could that money buy

SE 3 starts at 8,900 baht, Series 12 at 14,300 baht; the key differences come down to health sensors, battery life and the display
The Apple Watch SE 3 starts at 8,900 baht, compared with the Apple Watch Series 12 starting at 14,300 baht. What does that 5,400-baht-plus gap actually buy you, and which model is the better value for you?
Hardware
The Apple Watch SE 3 uses the same design as the Series 4, 5, and 6, with a 40 or 44mm aluminum case, powered by the S10 chip (2024), 2GB RAM, a display reaching up to 1,000 nits brightness with Ion-X front glass, battery life up to 18 hours, and 0–80% charging in about 45 minutes.
The Apple Watch Series 12 comes with a new, thinner design and a more rounded display, with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front (aluminum model) or sapphire crystal (titanium and ceramic models), IP6X dust resistance, 42 and 46mm cases, the S11 chip (2026), 4GB RAM, an LTPO3 display reaching up to 2,000 nits brightness, and a real-time seconds hand on supported watch faces.
Health is the deciding factor
The Health Sensing System on the Series 12 reads heart rate every 5 seconds, measures Recovery HRV (heart rate variability, which indicates physical readiness) and a Readiness Score combining activity, training, pulse, and sleep data. It also includes ECG, a blood oxygen sensor, and high blood pressure notifications — none of which are present on the SE 3.
Battery and exercise
The Series 12 can track a workout for up to 10 hours, compared with 7 hours on the SE 3. Standard battery life is 24 hours (versus 18 hours for the SE 3), charging 0–80% in just 30 minutes, or a 5-minute charge for 10 hours of sleep tracking — ideal for those who wear it to track sleep.
Extra features
The Series 12 has 5GHz Wi-Fi, a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip for Precision Finding an iPhone with distance and direction, Audio Intelligence support such as Siri Recap, Sound Recognition, and always-on Shazam, a water temperature sensor with a Depth Gauge for diving up to 6 meters, and titanium and ceramic case options for the premium tier.
Both models share features including an always-on display, a wrist temperature sensor, Sleep Apnea notifications, retrospective ovulation estimates, 5G (cellular models), and 64GB of storage.
Bottom line
If you want a smartwatch for notifications, basic exercise tracking, sleep tracking, and an always-on display, the SE 3 remains the best value at 8,900 baht. But if you prioritize in-depth health tracking, longer battery life, a bigger and brighter display, or want titanium and ceramic options, the extra cost for the Series 12 is worth it.
