Which color to pick? iPhone 18 Pro comes in 4 colors — Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy — who each one suits best

The large camera bump shows off the body color even with a case on; Burgundy is a shade new to iPhone, while Silver hides scratches best

Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max with 4 color options that stand clearly apart from the previous generation: Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy. Each color has its own character worth considering before deciding.

Think about cases first

The iPhone 18 Pro has a large camera plateau spanning the full width of the device, meaning the body color still shows even with a case on. Choosing a color that matches a preferred case should be part of the decision.

Burgundy

The boldest, most distinctive color in this lineup, considerably darker than the iPhone 17 Pro's Cosmic Orange, closer to wine or plum than bright red — a shade never before seen in iPhone history. Apple offers silicone and TechWoven cases in Burgundy to match, but with any other case color, the camera plateau becomes an eye-catching reddish-purple spot. Anyone hoping for a vivid red may be disappointed, since this shade is far darker and more muted than that.

Glacier

A pale pastel blue that feels light and airy, a complete departure from the iPhone 17 Pro's Deep Blue, and distinct enough not to blend into Silver. It's a middle-ground choice for anyone wanting a soft, sweet color without being too flashy. Apple offers several shades of blue cases, such as Crisp Blue and Chambray Blue, but none named exactly Glacier — worth comparing in person at a store.

Silver

The classic, most versatile choice, pairing well with nearly any case or wallpaper. This year, both back materials use the same tone, giving a more unified, better-looking finish than the iPhone 17 Pro's Silver, which showed an obvious two-tone look. Its advantage: when the anodized layer gets scratched, the raw aluminum underneath is very close to the surface color, so scuffs blend into the body better than on other colors.

Black

Back again after the iPhone 17 Pro skipped it in favor of Deep Blue. This black feels sleek, quiet, and professional. A black case helps the camera plateau blend into the body, while a light or bright-colored case makes it stand out immediately. Apple's clear case has a similar issue, since the white MagSafe ring stands out sharply against black. The trade-off: scuffs show more easily on this color than others.
