Wise launches multi-currency accounts and cards supporting 40 currencies in Thailand, with PromptPay and ASEAN QR support

Holds all 5 required licenses from the Bank of Thailand, offers the mid-market exchange rate with no markup, targeting Thai travelers and digital nomads
Wise, the global fintech company, has officially launched the Wise Account and Wise Card in Thailand, supporting management of money across more than 40 currencies in 160 countries, with a full feature set for both Thai nationals and foreigners living in Thailand.
Bangkok, September 23, 2026 — Amid the continued growth of cross-border travel and work, Wise announced the official launch of the Wise Account and Wise Card in Thailand, a service for Thais traveling abroad, foreigners residing in Thailand, and digital nomads who work and live in Thailand without being tied to one location.
This launch carries real significance: in 2025, Thais spent a combined 558 billion baht abroad, while Thailand remains one of the most popular destinations for tourists and foreign residents, especially following the introduction of the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), which lets digital nomads from around the world stay and work in Thailand for longer periods.
Account and card
The Wise Account is built to meet international financial needs, letting users hold and convert multiple currencies in a single account, with Exchange Rate Alerts they can set themselves to pick the best moment to convert. The Wise Card comes in both physical and digital form, calculated at the Mid-Market Exchange Rate with no added markup, and displays fees transparently before every transaction.
The Wise Card can also be added to Google Pay for contactless payment and supports QR code scanning via the Wise app for Thailand's PromptPay system as well as QR systems across the ASEAN region, including DuitNow in Malaysia, QRPh in the Philippines, and PayNow in Singapore.
Additional features and licensing
For added convenience, Wise includes a Bill Split function to help split costs with travel companions or colleagues, and a Travel Hub that gathers planning information and manages travel expenses, including spending guides for each destination, a nearby-ATM finder, and a feature for collecting simulated passport stamps.
In March this year, Wise received all 5 required licenses from the Bank of Thailand and the Ministry of Commerce, an important step ahead of this official service launch in Thailand.
