Apple launches HomePod mini 2 with S10 chip, 5 new colors, a music-reactive Sound Glow feature, priced at 5,200 baht

Apple announced the HomePod mini 2 on October 13, 2026, with new colors and a fuller sound experience than before. It works as a standalone speaker, a stereo pair, or part of a multi-room system, and when paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it supports 4-speaker surround sound.

Colors and sound

HomePod mini 2 comes in 5 colors — pink, green, blue, white and midnight — each with a matching charging cable, delivering 360-degree sound in a compact size. It's powered by Apple's S10 chip and Computational Audio, which analyzes music in real time to optimize dynamic range, loudness and acoustic performance.

For the first time, a 4-speaker surround setup can be built using the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and four HomePod mini 2 units. The speakers sense each other's position in the room and automatically adjust volume and timing. A pair of HomePod (2nd generation) speakers can also join the 4-speaker set, as long as the front pair and rear pair match each other, and the new HomePod mini can serve as the default speaker for Mac, carrying audio for movies, games, FaceTime and video calls (requires a Mac with Wi-Fi 6E or later, used with a single HomePod or a stereo pair).

Sound Glow

A new feature on this model: the top of the device becomes a canvas that glows and pulses to the beat, reacting to bass and treble in real time. Album artwork for the playing track generates a matching color glow unique to each song, and ambient sounds like rain can trigger a calming animation (voice control for Sound Glow requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone and the latest software).

Smart home and privacy

Chain multiple smart-home commands together with a single voice request — lock the front door, close the garage, lower the blinds, adjust the temperature, or turn off the lights at bedtime. Set up automations and scenes through the Home app. A sound-recognition feature listens for smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and alerts iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch if detected (requires an updated home architecture, and Apple notes this feature should not be relied on in dangerous or emergency situations). Users can also check in through HomePod mini to listen and talk to people at home. By default, Siri requests are not stored.

Environment, price and availability

HomePod mini 2 uses 100% recycled rare-earth elements in every magnet, 100% recycled copper, gold plating and tin solder in Apple-designed printed circuit boards, and 100% recyclable fiber-based packaging.
