AirPods 5 review: the first open-ear earbuds with noise cancellation, at a more accessible price

ANC improved 50% over AirPods 4, Spatial Audio carried over from Pro 3, Live Translation on every model, priced at $129/$149 (Thai pricing not yet announced)
Apple has launched AirPods 5, the first open-ear AirPods with active noise cancellation (ANC), which the company says performs 50% better than AirPods 4. The headline feature is getting ANC without silicone ear tips, keeping the familiar open-ear fit many people already know, while carrying over Spatial Audio technology from AirPods Pro 3 for three-dimensional sound and enabling Live Translation across every AirPods model.
The new earbuds come in two options: a standard case priced at $129 and a wireless-charging case priced at $149, with official Thai pricing still pending. Battery life is rated at 5 hours of continuous ANC listening and 22 hours total with the case (wireless-charging model), supporting both USB-C and wireless charging.
A new context-aware Siri feature that responds hands-free, along with whisper commands and nod/shake-head gestures, requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone and is available in English only at launch.
